5:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursday of every month at the Rockbridge County Administrative Offices - First Floor Meeting Room (150 South Main Street, Lexington, VA 24450)

Note - Deadline for submittals to the Planning Commission:

All comments from the public, submitted in writing to the Planning Director by 4:00 p.m. on the Tuesday before a scheduled meeting, will be forwarded to the Planning Commission for review prior to the meeting. Comments received after that time can only be printed and provided to the Commissioners at the time of the meeting.  We encourage early submittals to allow the Commissioners adequate time to fully consider the comments. The public is always welcome to share comments during the public meeting.

Councilmember Leslie Straughan serves as council liaison to the Planning Commission.

About the Commission

The primary function of the Planning Commission is to advise City Council in matters related to land use planning and development. The commission is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to City Council concerning:

• Proposed subdivisions of land
• Site plans for proposed construction
• Conditional use applications
• Requests for rezoning
• Design review for building modifications, signs, and landscaping in the city's entrance corridors

The commission is also responsible for preparing and maintaining the Comprehensive Plan.
