The Lexington Fire Department is a Combination System of Career and Volunteer staff working hand in hand to provide Fire, Emergency Medical Services, Rescue, Prevention, and Public Education services to the citizens and visitors of the City of Lexington and a portion of the surrounding Rockbridge County. We have 17 full time staff, approximately 25 active volunteers, and a pool of part-time employees to help us answer about 3,200 emergency calls for service each year. LFD is currently rated as an ISO Class 3 fire department placing us in the top 3% of all Virginia fire departments. This ISO rating helps to keep fire insurance premiums down for property owners in our fire district.
