About the Authority

The Economic Development Authority (IDA) issues tax exempt industrial revenue bonds on behalf of organizations wishing to seek tax exemption for their projects.

The Lexington City Council voted (6-0) on November 7, 2024 to officially change the name from the Industrial Development Authority to the Economic Development Authority.

Economic Development Authority Purpose Statement

The Economic Development Authority (EDA) promotes economic development that retains and increases the tax base, job creation, and measurable improvements to the economic well-being of the community. This includes issuing tax exempt industrial bonds on behalf of the qualifying non-profit business sector.
