Friends of Rockbridge Swimming Public Statement on the Outdoor Pool

Friends of Rockbridge Swimming (FOR Swimming) is excited to announce that we have entered into an agreement with the City of Lexington to open the Lexington Municipal Pool in a limited capacity this summer. We will strictly adhere to the Covid-19 guidelines that have been issued for pools in Virginia which limits pool use to no more than 3 people per lane.

FOR Swimming's goal in this challenging time is to give the community an opportunity to use this beloved community asset to swim, float, walk, or play while keeping everyone safe and healthy.

All pool use will be by appointment only. Community members will be able to schedule a one or two hour time slot for use of the pool via our online system, which will be posted on our website, www.rockbridgeswims.org, and will be also made available through the City’s webpage. Anyone needing help scheduling can contact us at info@rockbridgeswims.org or call our office at 540-464-3663.  Unlike regular summer seasons, walk-ins will not be possible because we need to carefully monitor how many people are at the pool at any particular point in time. We hope to work with other community organizations to facilitate pool use for the youth in our area as well as those that may not be able to afford to rent a time slot.

We will follow strict social distancing guidelines and maintain at least 6 feet distance between seating

areas for families/individuals. Morning lap swim will be limited to one person per lane or up to 3 in the same family.  Family swim will be limited to 5 people so that we can ensure that we can maintain proper social distancing (families of more than 5 people will be able to rent an additional lane). In addition, even though 5 people from one family/group can be at the pool, only 3 of them would be able to be in the water at the same time in accordance with the current Governor guidelines.  Seating and tables will be regularly disinfected between uses.

The pool will be open from 7am to 11am for lap and youth swimming.  During that time, community members will have the option to rent one lane per person or one lane per family (no more than 3 people can be in a lane). The hourly fee will be $5 per individual or $10 per family.

Noon to 8pm will be available for family swim with one lane available for individual lap swim during this time. The afternoon family swim time will be organized in two hour blocks. Each family (of no more than 5 people) will be able to rent a lane and deck space for two hours. The cost for the family for a two hour time slot will be $20 ($10 per hour). Discounts will be available for 5, 10, and 20 passes.

We appreciate your patience while we try to navigate the opening of the pool under these unusual circumstances. The pool will open on Saturday, June 20. Please reserve your lane ahead of time via our website.
