Public Input Session: Drafting of a Chicken Ordinance

The Lexington Planning Commission is considering an amendment to the zoning ordinance that would consist of regulations for the keeping of chickens in Lexington. Prior to the drafting of any ordinance language regarding chickens, the Planning Commission wants to hear from the public. A public input session will be held on March 28, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. at the Lyburn Downing Middle School cafeteria (302 Diamond Street) for the public to share any experience or expertise.

Planning staff has reviewed the discussion that occurred in 2012 regarding chickens and provided a compilation of pros and cons that were part of that discussion. We ask that you review the staff provided list and provide comment that will add to the discussion.

If you are not available to attend, please send any written comments to aglaeser@lexingtonva.gov and your comments will be provided to the Planning Commission.
