Arbor Day is back! The Mayor will soon proclaim Thursday, October 25, 2018 as Arbor Day for the City of Lexington. The City intends to celebrate by installing a new forested buffer at the end of the Waddell playfield at Woods Creek Trail. Several trees were removed earlier this year due to their declining conditions. The mixed buffer of native trees will be beneficial to the environment, low maintenance, and beautiful to look at.
The City welcomes all to stop by and help members of Public Works install the newest additions to Lexington’s Urban Canopy. This will give residents an opportunity to learn how to properly install trees and get to know some of the terrific people who keep this city running. Come for as long as you’d like. Help out or just watch and keep us company.
The City Arborist and members of Public Works will be on site approximately from 9:30-11:15 a.m. and 12:30-3:00 p.m.
