Maintaining your Trees and Shrubs

It's that time of year again. The City of Lexington Public Works Department is reminding residents whose property borders on any street or sidewalk to inspect and maintain their trees and shrubs. Residents are expected to prune trees and shrubs to ensure that they will not cause a potential hazard to public safety (obstruct traffic signals or signs, prohibit the passage of pedestrians on sidewalks, or obstruct view of any street or alley at an intersection). The City Arborist recommends a minimum clearance of nine 9 feet over sidewalks, and 16 feet over all streets. We thank you for your cooperation and prompt attention to your landscaping.

For further instruction, assistance, or if you have questions please contact the City Arborist, Jennifer Hughes of the Public Works Department: Phone 540-463-3154 or Email jhughes@lexingtonva.gov
