PAVCON, Inc. has been contracted by the City to complete the Spring 2018 Street Resurfacing program. Notice to proceed has been issued for May 23, 2018. The contractor shall have ninety calendar days to complete the program. The contractor’s tentative paving schedule is outlined here. All work days are weather permitting. Normal work hours shall be between 8AM and 5PM, Monday through Friday, with the exception of E. Nelson Street, Randolph Street and Route 11. These locations shall be paved at night, nominally between the hours of 8 PM and 6 AM. Additional work locations may be added to the schedule as funding permits.

Pavement marking operations will commence shortly after each street is resurfaced.

Rockbridge alerts will be issued as the work progresses. Additionally, the contractor will provide impact notices when working in residential areas. Residents and businesses are asked to avoid parking on the street when work is scheduled to preclude negatively impacting the contractor’s performance. Motorists are requested to exercise extreme caution when traveling through these work zones until construction is fully complete.

Citizens should expect heavy equipment noise, moderate construction dust, and minor disruptions to normal traffic flow; however, when the program is compete, roadway safety, aesthetics, and ride quality will be noticeably improved. Your cooperation and patience is appreciated.
