City Manager Noah A. Simon has named Jeffrey Martone as the Director of Public Works in Lexington, Virginia, effective immediately.
Martone is a licensed Professional Engineer and has worked in civil engineering and construction for over 25 years. He was hired as Lexington’s City Engineer in June of 2015 and was appointed to serve as Interim Director of Public Works when Mike Kennedy retired from the director position earlier this fall.
Prior to his employment at the City, Martone worked for almost 20 years at Pembroke Construction Company, Inc., based out of Hampton, Virginia, where he served as vice president and later as president of the company. Before Pembroke, Martone was employed as a project engineer for two Newport News consulting companies over the course of six years. Martone obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Ohio State University and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Old Dominion University.
“Over the past two and a half years, we have benefitted greatly from the knowledge and skills Jeff Martone has brought to the table,” Simon said. “He has done an excellent job as Interim Director of Public Works and I look forward to seeing him fill the director position. His professional background, connectivity with the staff, and ability to communicate are exactly what the department needs in order to move the City forward in a positive direction.”
Martone and his wife live in Raphine with the youngest of their three daughters.
