Lexington and Rockbridge to celebrate America Recycles Day at Hopkins Green

On Wednesday, November 15, 2017, City of Lexington and County of Rockbridge will host the first ever Recycle Rockbridge celebration at Hopkins Green, joining thousands of local organizers holding recycling events across the country to celebrate America Recycles Day, a national initiative of Keep America Beautiful.

From 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., Rockbridge County’s LIVE (Limit your Impact, Value the Earth) mobile classroom will be stationed at Hopkins Green (22 W. Nelson St.), featuring interactive educational displays and a comprehensive message of sustainability and stewardship. Additionally, attendees are invited to participate in kid-friendly and educational games, such as sorting races using recycled materials. The event will be free and open to the public.

In a collaborative effort to “recycle more and recycle right,” Rockbridge and Lexington will promote education and awareness of recycling throughout next week via social media and community outreach.
