Public Works will begin curbside loose leaf collection in the city beginning Monday, October 16, 2017. Public Works will visit each of the four sections one time per month for a week over the months of October, November, and December. It is important that residents take note of their designated zone and have their leaves out for pickup during the scheduled weeks. As the city curbside collection schedule is underway, large leaf quantities can be raked or bagged. Collection will continue through Friday, December 29, 2017, after which leaves must be bagged or canned and will then be collected as part of regular solid waste pickup.
The schedule in neighborhoods generally follows the sequence shown on the accompanying aerial map. The rate of progress is dependent upon the rate of fall and the quantity of leaves that are placed out for collection, which typically increases through the season. It may take several days to collect and dispose of leaves in more densely covered areas. Additionally, delays may occur due to weather or equipment breakdown, so schedule recovery will be made as soon as possible. Please use the following guidelines when piling leaves:
TIP: As leaves begin falling, small quantities can easily be mulched during normal lawn mowing activity. Mulched leaves benefit lawns and gardens and eliminate the need to rake or bag. This is an environmentally friendly practice and is encouraged. Read more information about mulching leaves here.
Please note that the final Section collection runs in December have staggered end dates by section, so not all sections will be collected through 29 December.
