Randolph Street Waterline Improvement

The city has awarded a contract to Atkins Excavating, Inc. to replace the existing water distribution line on Randolph Street from Washington Street to Nelson Street.  The project will replace a nearly 100 year old 6-inch cast iron pipe with a new 8-inch ductile iron pipe.  A new fire hydrant will be installed and service lines will be replaced as needed.

Work will begin the week of 10 July and is expected to take about 4 months to complete.  The contractor will typically be onsite from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  Activities that will disrupt water service to buildings will be performed outside normal work day hours.  The contractor will post impact notices to businesses as the work proceeds.  The contractor will be following a detailed Traffic Control Plan.  This section of Washington Street will be generally accessible to businesses on the street, but detour routes will be posted for through traffic and when work is being performed at major intersections.

Motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists are advised to exercise extreme care and caution in this construction area and to seek alternate routes whenever possible.  Your cooperation and patience is appreciated.  This project is another step in renewing critical aging city infrastructure.
