DEQ announces public meetings on Woods Creek water quality study

The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality in cooperation with Virginia Tech’s Biological Systems Engineering Department and local involved stakeholders will host a public meeting on April 18, 2017 on a water quality study for Woods Creek.

WHEN: Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 6.30 pm

WHERE: Maury River Middle School, 600 Waddell Street, Lexington, VA

WHO: Anyone who is concerned with local water quality in Woods Creek

WHAT: Over the last 7 months, DEQ has worked with local residents to determine what is causing excess bacteria problems in Woods Creek.  DEQ worked closely with a Technical Advisory Committee, which was made up of local landowners and interested organizations.  This group met five times between October and March to review data, determine sources of bacteria in the watershed, and give feedback to DEQ and its contractors on the study.

We would like to share the work of the Technical Advisory Committee with the community at large and discuss solutions to local bacterial and stream health issues.  All are welcome to attend.
