The Blue Ridge Resource Authority (BRRA) will hold a public hearing, in accordance with the requirements of §15.2-5136 of the Code of Virginia, on the proposed landfill fee schedule for fiscal year 2022 (July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022). The Board of Directors will also consider adoption of the final FY 2022 Budget during the May 10th regular meeting.
Beginning Friday, April 9, the Central Shenandoah Health District (CSHD) will expand COVID-19 vaccination efforts to Phase 2. All individuals age 16 and over in Rockingham, Augusta, Rockbridge, Bath and Highland counties, and the cities of Harrisonburg, Staunton, Waynesboro, Lexington and Buena Vista will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
A Public Hearing will be conducted by the Lexington City Council at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 15, 2021, to solicit public comment on the proposed Street Renaming Policy. The proposed policy will be available in the upcoming City Council meeting packet on the City Council portal: https://lexingtonva.civicweb.net/portal/.
Citizens are strongly encouraged to submit public comment in writing to the following email address: jhostetter@lexingtonva.gov, by US Mail to City Manager’s Office, 300 East Washington Street, Lexington VA, 24450, or by leaving it in the City’s drop box at the rear of the building (facing the parking lot) and addressed to the City Manager’s Office. Comments will be distributed to City Council and entered into the minutes as public record.
Central Shenandoah Health District Will Expand COVID-19 Vaccination to “Phase 1c” Recipients
City Manager Jim Halasz announced today the appointment of Angela Greene as the next Police Chief for the City of Lexington. Ms. Greene will begin as Chief on May 10, 2021. Greene replaces Mike Frost who has served as Interim Police Chief since this past October.

In preparation for gradually increasing vaccine supply, Rockbridge County has leased the building formally known as Peebles/Gordmans, located at 770 N Lee Highway in the College Square Shopping Center, to serve as a centralized, regional vaccination center. Until recently, the Virginia Department of Health has utilized the Maury River Middle School for mass vaccination clinics when in-person learning was not in session. Additionally, the Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital and the Rockbridge Area Health Center have received and distributed available vaccine doses.
