The city has awarded a contract to Aaron J. Conner, General Contractor, Inc. to improve neighborhood wastewater collection lines in the Enfield Road area of the city. Work will be performed on Battery Lane, Confederate Circle, Pickett Street, Lampe Circle, and Willow Lane.

Major street resurfacing will begin at various locations around the City on Tuesday 30 May and take about 30 to 45 calendar days to complete, all weather permitting. Notice is hereby given that the City of Lexington will accept proposals on the preparation of appraisals of taxable and tax exempt real estate in Lexington, Virginia for the 2018 General Reassessment. The bid may be extended to the next General Reassessment solely at the option of the City and upon successful negotiation of project fees. This reassessment is to be effective July 1, 2018 for FY 19.
A Public Works crew will begin semiannual pavement marking and striping within the downtown area on Sunday April 23rd, weather permitting. It is expected the work will take 5 to 7 nights to complete. The crew will work from midnight to 8:00 AM to minimize disruption to traffic and normal business activity.

On Monday 27 March, a Public Works crew will begin semiannual testing and inspection of fire hydrants throughout the city distribution system. Testing should be complete by the end of the week, but may be delayed by emergencies or weather. If delays occur the work will be completed the week of 3 April. Maintenance consists of checking all valves for proper operation and identifying leaks. All work will be performed during normal work hours, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
STAUNTON – The Virginia Department of Transportation is performing bridge work on the Interstate 64 westbound bridge over Route 763 (Lincoln Road) and Mill Creek in Rockbridge County. This location is on I-64 between exit 56 at Interstate 81 and exit 55 at Route 11 in Lexington.
The City of Lexington, Virginia will receive SEALED BIDS in the Office of the Department of Public Works, 890 Shop Road, Lexington, Virginia 24450, until Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM, for the “Spring 2017 Street Resurfacing Program”. This project includes 26,333 SY of City Inventory street milling and asphalt paving (nominal 2” SM-9.5A) and 7,726 SY of Non-Inventory street asphalt overlay (nominal 2” SM-9.5AL). Contingency units for undercut, #21A stone base installation, asphalt patching, #21A shoulder replacement, and installation of asphalt berms are included.
The City of Lexington’s E. Nelson Street Drainage Improvement project will commence Tuesday, January 17, 2017. This project involves replacing an aged, structurally deficient, and inadequate 36” storm drain with new and larger pipe. This line crosses E. Nelson Street in the vicinity of the Walker Street intersection, running from just above the Sheetz entrance to the BB&T bank across the street.
