The Public Works Department is responsible for the following:

  • Garbage and brush collection and disposal
  • Water and sewer line maintenance and construction
  • Maintenance of parks, playgrounds, and cemeteries
  • Water turn-ons and turn-offs
  • Water meter readings for billing purposes

Lexington City COVID-19 Interim Park Regulations

March 29, 2020 

Park green spaces and trails, as applicable, are open to the public at present. All patrons are advised to practice common sense social distancing etiquette. In an effort to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus, park play equipment, courts and amenities, such as benches, picnic tables/ pavilions, and restrooms, are closed to the public until further notice.

All persons having lots in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetery and Evergreen Cemetery are requested to remove all flowers, flags, or any other items from the graves by March 23, 2020. After this date, the City will remove and dispose of them in preparation for the upcoming mowing season. Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated.

FY19 Paving Schedule

September 27, 2019 

All original streets included in the City's spring/summer paving schedule were completed per the previously posted schedule. Since bid pricing was so competitive, the City asked the contractor (Adams Construction) to include additional streets. These additional streets include Old Borden Road, Borden Road, Alum Spring Road, and Lime Kiln Road. Resurfacing of these streets will occur between October 7, 2019 and October 11, 2019.
