About the Commission

The primary function of the Planning Commission is to advise City Council in matters related to land use planning and development. The commission is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to City Council concerning:

  • Proposed subdivisions of land
  • Site plans for proposed construction
  • Conditional use applications
  • Requests for rezoning
  • Design review for building modifications, signs, and landscaping in the city's entrance corridors

The commission is also responsible for preparing and maintaining the Comprehensive Plan.

2017 Planning Commission Meeting Dates and Application Deadlines

First meeting of the month will be in the Waddell Elementary School Cafeteria.

Second meeting of the month will be in the Community Meeting Room, Lexington City Hall (CMR).
